Everyday Life Information Seeking Patterns of Resident Female University Students in Pakistan

Purpose: Everyday life information seeking (ELIS) is essential for the mastery of and plays a central role in daily problem-solving activities all human beings. This study aimed to investigate everyday female university students residing at hostels Lahore, Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative research approach using survey method was adopted identify dimensions ELIS fill paucity on topic. Two-hundred forty-eight living various private Pakistan, were surveyed, collected data analyzed Statistics Package Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21. Findings: Results revealed that hostel expanded social circle students, as it offered exposure diverse multicultural groups. Female required related their academic needs, safety concerns, life, self-help issues. They relied mainly mobiles phones, internet, media, inter-personal relationships information. Cultural differences, natural hesitation, language barriers, time difficulty identifying reliable primary obstacles meeting needs. Originality/value: The findings this can be used premise developing interventions services allow them live comfortably safe environment achieve educational goals. results may also provide useful insights administrations establish libraries better cater residents’
